Typical Walker House Dinner Conversation

Published by Marlan under Caleb, Family, Grace

Sally has been trying (in vain I may add) to weed out so-called toilet-humor at the dinner table. For me, it is normal dinner conversation. Tonight, it got a little too literal.

Grace: Mom, I’m pooped!

Ava: Mama. I poop! I poop!

He’s Growin’

Published by Marlan under Caleb, Family

Caleb is getting big fast. The third time around, it seems like the milestones are here before you know them (well, the first 8 weeks still feel like 12 weeks, but then the baby sleeps through the night…)

Caleb’s Tail

Published by Marlan under Caleb, Family, Grace, Sally

Grace got out of the shower the other day and proceeded to streak around the house. Sally and Ava followed Grace into the girls room to get them dressed. Grace was up on her bed shaking her little tush in the air. She asked Sally, “Is my bottom cute mama?”

“Yes,” said Sally. “Do you think Ava’s bottom is cute?”

“Yes,” Grace replied.

“Do you think my bottom is cute?”

“Yes,” Grace again replied.

“Do you think Caleb’s bottom is cute?”

Thoughtfully, Grace responded, “No, because his bottom has a tail.”

Just to be clear, Grace thinks the bottom goes from back to the front

More Caleb… Finally

Published by Marlan under Caleb, Family

I haven’t felt much like making entries and attaching pictures lately. We have a bazillion (thanks to the digital camera revolution). So here are a few of Caleb per the request of Tina.

Like the others, he does the fat bottom lip thing before he cries. I almost want to make him cry sometimes just so he sticks out his bottom lip. Thankfully, a little tummy time or not getting him milk fast enough is all it takes.

I like it when the kid sleeps. This happens to be one of my favorite poses that we call “touchdown.”

This was the blessing outfit. I was told I had to do the blessing on a given day or he would no longer fit in his outfit. And as we all know, the outfit is what is important in the grand scheme of the blessing.

OK, enough for now. Plus it is past my bedtime. I have many more little gems to post, manana.

More Pictures

It has been a busy past few weeks. Time goes by without posting in a heartbeat. So with no further ado…

Grace and Ava don’t get nearly as much time as they would like with the baby. So when they do get time, they tend to smother him. See the attached video as well. (Ignore the baby talk from dad — I don’t realize I do it…)

Smothered Baby
Smothered Baby

And another…

And another. What baby doesn’t like to have their feet tickled by possibly the roughest tickling ever?

The swing is also a big hit. The girls seemed to have forgotten they each took upteen rides in it.

Ava felt like she didn’t get enough rides, however. She climbed in herself while nobody was looking (and after getting busted trying to do it on more than one other occasion).

Grace read him a book. In other words, she looked at the pictures and made up the story as she remembered it. Caleb really liked the pictures… oh wait, Grace didn’t bother to show him the pictures.

That said, she does try to be a little mom (a trait that we are working to cure her of) and is really sweet with him.

This was a Grace cheeseball smile when asked to smile for the camera. It was the best we could do.

Finally, the kid sleeps. He cries more than either Grace or Ava did.

And a closeup. In the next edition, we will get another close up to show what a pizza-face Caleb has become this last week.

More Pictures of Caleb

Published by Marlan under Ava, Caleb, Family, Grace

Caleb is healthy, having gained 1/2 pound in a week. Recently, Ava contracted a little cold (or maybe allergies?). When the doctor found out, she told Sally to tell the girls that Caleb is “dirty.” She explained that they would stay away. Only telling Grace and Ava he is dirty has had the opposite effect. As if they were flys and Caleb is [insert something that is really dirty here].

An album is below, but I can’t resist commenting on a few of my favorites:

I love how the older sister gene has taken over. “Ava, get your face away from us.” And the other not so subtle slip in this picture.

(Grace just informed me upon coming up to see what I am doing “I do NOT love that dress because it is not beautiful. Do you think it’s pretty? Because I don’t.” Translation: this isn’t a princess dress. Brutally honest, yet innocent opinion: priceless.)

OK, I am a bad dad, but I think Caleb looks like an alien.

He got the scrawny gene. Must be from Sally.

Is this a close enough closeup for you mom? ;-)

And now for the album:

Name

Published by Marlan under Caleb, Family, Religion

Caleb Marlan Walker

** UPDATE **

Sally and I have different reasons for liking the name (or I maybe I am wrong). But I have always loved the story of Caleb and Joshua being the only among the scouts of 12 tribes that had faith when faced with the armies of the Canaanites. As a result, the Children of Isreal wandered for 40 years, and of those who originally left Egypt, only Caleb and Joshua were permitted to enter the promised land.

6 ΒΆ And aJoshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only arebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: bfear them not.

24 But my servant aCaleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath bfollowed me fully, him will I cbring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
