Grace’s Prayer

Published by Marlan under Family, Grace

My Little Pony UmbrellaWe told Grace it might rain today. Why would she care, you ask? Because she got a My Little Pony umbrella last week as a prize for filling her jar of good girl jewels up.

Alas, it never rained today. So in her prayers tonight she said “… and bless it to rain, because the plants will die if they don’t have any water and they need rain.”

What she meant was “… and bless me to be able to use my pony umbrella soon.”

Grace’s Family Home Evening

Published by Sally under Family, Grace

Tonight at Family Home Evening Grace said she wanted to be the leader (a.k.a. the boss). She took some markers, stuck them end to end to make a baton/leader stick and told us the lesson was on families are forever. (Great topic, okay, let’s hear what she has to say, I think to myself).

So, she starts off with informing us that it is okay if we die because we will be together forever. Then she says that mean and bad people will die before us because we are super good (Uhhh…not exactly).  So, we discuss that we all die sometime and we don’t know when but sometimes there are accidents and people who are good die, not just the bad people.

Next, she went on to tell us that Jesus died already and he is up in heaven. “He was the youngest child in his family (oh, really) and his family died a long time ago, about 50 years ago (hmmm…interesting),” she said. Buddy and I just kept trying not to make eye contact because we knew if we did, we’d bust up laughing and her feelings would be hurt.

All in all, she did a fine job and felt important to be able to be the leader. She’s a really good little girl and I am so happy she is in our family. She makes life interesting.

Bubbles

Published by Marlan under Ava, Family, Grace

I asked Grace to let the water out of the bathtub. She took it literally and decided that didn’t mean she had to let the bubbles go as well. The result:

Bubble Head

And she wasn’t supposed to get her hair wet…

Too much Berenstain Bears?

Published by Sally under Family, Grace, Marlan

After dinner last night, we were all sitting at the table, just talking and digesting when Grace looked over at Buddy (who was tipping back in his chair with both arms behind his head) and announced, “Daddy, why do you have fur under your arms?”

You can imagine the look we exchanged and then we all busted up laughing.

All I can say is, I am glad she didn’t say that to me because who knows, with all my raging pregnancy hormones, I just might have started crying.

Funny things heard this week

Published by Sally under Grace

“Mama, I want to be a Narnian.” I guess she’s really taken to her Daddy-Daughter time, reading The Chronicles of Narnia series.

It was 100 degrees here for the last 3 days and she came home from school and announced that she was, “Super-duper sweaty and that that makes (her) allergic.”

“I want to be the Crocodile Hunter when I grow up.” Yet when asked what she would do if she had to capture a crocodile or a huge snake she replied, “Oh, I will just have the real crocodile hunter help me.” Yes, I said that would be a good idea except for he died in an accident. “Yeah, Mommy but it’s okay because he is up in heaven with Heavenly Father.” Glad she’s got it all figured out.

The Black Cat

Published by Marlan under Family, Grace

Grace has been having some trouble going to sleep at night. What 4 year old doesn’t? Part of the problem is that she stands on her bed and opens the blinds to see what the neighborhood kids (who don’t go to bed at 7 PM) are doing.

Recently, she came up with a new excuse for not going to bed based on what she saw outside. The black cat outside scared her. Her exact quote was “there is a black cat outside, and it has a mean face!”

Grace the Photographer

Published by Marlan under Family, Grace

If Grace sees a camera, she asks to take a picture. In her latest photoshoot, she had some interesting pics, as evidenced below:

Grace's Picture

I could be wrong, but I think Grace could use some weight lifting in the arms region.

And just for the record, Sally hates the shirt I am wearing.

Intersting Artifact

I could be wrong, but I think Grace picks her nose.

Booger

She obviously hasn’t mastered the toilet paper as Kleenex concept.

A Child’s Idea of Faith

Published by Marlan under Grace

Grace and I were reading the scriptures tonight. We read about Alma’s teachings about faith. I asked her if she knew what faith was. She replied that she didn’t, so I told her that faith was believing in things that are true, but that you can’t see.

She said, “Oh, like Heavenly Father…”
I said, “Yeah,” inwardly pleased that I was able to get the point across.
She continued, “and unicorns and Pegasus’s…”

Almost.
